Four Waimakariri Community Emergency Hubs participated in a Civil Defence exercise on Saturday, 17 August. Thank you to everyone who took part in the Pegasus Community Centre, our local Community Emergency Hub exercise. There was a good turnout of local people keen to understand how they could activate the hub in a disaster.
Adrian Everse led a team of Waimakariri Civil Defence volunteers of Welfare Team members, Operational Support members, NZ-RT12 (New Zealand Response Team volunteer first responders), some PRGI committee members and local residents.
Special thanks to Dean Eades, Emergency Management Advisor and Shona Powell, Chair of the Woodend-Sefton Community Board and Councillor Brent Cairns from Waimakariri District Council.
We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to join our Community Emergency Hub volunteers and be trained to help run the Hub if an emergency were to occur. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved.
Don’t forget! We have a special Pegasus Community Centre Emergency Hub Official Opening Event on Sunday 20th of October from 1 pm to 3 pm which will be a fun family day out.
