The Waimakariri District Council is currently seeking community feedback on what a youth space in Pegasus should look like. They’ve already heard from around 140 young people through an earlier consultation, and now they want input from the wider community.
The feedback the Council received was that young people enjoy spending time at the beach, lake, and local parks like Wanaka Reserve. They said they are into both activities like walking and biking, as well as more relaxed activities like hanging out with friends, and want is a space that feels fun, safe, clean, accessible, and full of things to do.
The council has now developed three options based on this feedback, and they’re asking for our help in choosing the best one:
Option 1 – A dedicated skate item in Karen Eastwood Park or Waitaki Reserve
Option 2 – A basketball/tennis court in Rakahuri Reserve, a double flying fox in Maungatere Reserve, and a Lakeside Links pathway
Option 3 – A natural nest in Rakahuri Reserve, gaga dodgeball in Maungatere Reserve, and Greenway Links
Our feedback will help the Woodend Sefton Community Board make a final decision.

Make sure to get your feedback in before 5 pm on Friday, 6 June 2025.
