Pegasus Lake Update: Bloom present

Updated: Sep 2, 2022

Sadly samples of Pegasus Lake water have tested showing cyanobacteria biovolumes.

The council has advised that signage will be put in place around the lake warning people of the risk:

Although a health warning hasn’t been issued at this time, as it is outside of the recreational season, we still recommend people and their dogs avoid contact with the water and toxic algal bloom.

Environment Canterbury is monitoring the site, with Canterbury District Health Board being responsible for issuing health warnings. The public will be advised of any changes in water quality via our website and Facebook.
