The Woodend Fire Brigade is 100% voluntary staffed from residents of Woodend and Pegasus Town. The Woodend Fire Station houses four response vehicles including one Fire/Rescue Appliance, one Water Tanker and two Tactical Support Vehicles.
The Brigade respond to a variety of emergencies; from Pineacres Corner through to Ashworths Beach Road and halfway to Rangiora, including Sefton. Emergency Incidents range from fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical co-responses, fire alarm activations, and civil defence emergencies.
The Brigade regularly back-up other North Canterbury Brigades when required. Training is held on a Monday evening from 7 pm to 9 pm with occasional additional training held during a weekend as well.
We are currently recruiting and seeking applicants who are available during the hours of 7 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday or work in the Woodend area. Almost anybody can join a Volunteer Fire Brigade, male or female, young or older, those who want to contribute to their community. The minimum application age for a volunteer is 16 with parental/guardian consent, or 18 and above.
